2021 Fantasy Football Mock Draft 1.0: 12-Team, 0.5 PPR

Every other Friday through the summer, I am going to be doing a mock draft for various fantasy formats—starting today with a 12-team, 0.5 PPR league. All mocks use the FantasyPros draft simulator.

Round 1

1.01: Christian McCaffrey, CAR RB
1.02: Dalvin Cook, MIN RB
1.03: Derrick Henry, TEN RB
1.04: Davante Adams, GB WR
1.05: Saquon Barkley, NYG RB
1.06: Alvin Kamara, NO RB
1.07: Nick Chubb, CLE RB
1.08: Jonathan Taylor, IND RB
1.09: Tyreek Hill, KC WR
1.10: Ezekiel Elliott, DAL RB
1.11: Travis Kelce, KC TE
1.12: Aaron Jones, GB RB

Thoughts: There are two running backs (Aaron Jones being one of them) and two wide receivers that I am targeting with my next pick, so I’ll have a couple options out of that group guaranteed to be available. There is only one Travis Kelce, though, and that advantage is difficult to pass up.

Round 2

2.01: Stefon Diggs, BUF WR
2.02: Joe Mixon, CIN RB
2.03: A.J. Brown, TEN WR
2.04: Cam Akers, LAR RB
2.05: DeAndre Hopkins, ARI WR
2.06: Austin Ekeler, LAC RB
2.07: D.K. Metcalf, SEA WR
2.08: Keenan Allen, LAC WR
2.09: Calvin Ridley, ATL WR
2.10: Najee Harris, PIT RB
2.11: George Kittle, SF TE
2.12: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, KC RB

Thoughts: Mixon is perhaps the most controversial early-round selection of the year, and you would think he’s missed half of his career games based on the dissatisfaction voiced about him on Twitter. I’m excited about the potential in a rising Cincinnati offense.

Round 3

3.01: Justin Jefferson, MIN WR
3.02: Antonio Gibson, WAS RB
3.03: Terry McLaurin, WAS WR
3.04: Allen Robinson, CHI WR
3.05: Patrick Mahomes, KC QB
3.06: D’Andre Swift, DET RB
3.07: J.K. Dobbins, BAL RB
3.08: Michael Thomas, NO WR
3.09: Mike Evans, TB WR
3.10: Miles Sanders, PHI RB
3.11: Josh Jacobs, LV RB
3.12: Darren Waller, LV TE

Thoughts: Jacobs scored 12 touchdowns last season, and the remade offensive line could be a better run-blocking group than most realize. Jon Gruden has said he thinks Jacobs can be an MVP-caliber runner.

Round 4

4.01: Chris Carson, SEA RB
4.02: Julio Jones, ATL WR
4.03: Chris Godwin, TB WR
4.04: Amari Cooper, DAL WR
4.05: Josh Allen, BUF QB
4.06: Robert Woods, LAR WR
4.07: D.J. Moore, CAR WR
4.08: David Montgomery, CHI RB
4.09: Mike Davis, ATL RB
4.10: Kyle Pitts, ATL TE
4.11: CeeDee Lamb, DAL WR
4.12: Brandon Aiyuk, SF WR

Thoughts: I actually planned on taking D.J. Moore here as a guy possessing increased upside that can be unlocked with some touchdown luck, but Julio should remain a high-level producer whether it’s in Atlanta or somewhere else.

Round 5

5.01: Cooper Kupp, LAR WR
5.02: Adam Thielen, MIN WR
5.03: Lamar Jackson, BAL QB
5.04: T.J. Hockenson, DET TE
5.05: Diontae Johnson, PIT WR
5.06: Ja’Marr Chase, CIN WR
5.07: Kyler Murray, ARI QB
5.08: Myles Gaskin, MIA RB
5.09: Kareem Hunt, CLE RB
5.10: Melvin Gordon, DEN RB
5.11: Dak Prescott, DAL QB
5.12: Kenny Golladay, NYG WR

Thoughts: Prescott seems like a relatively safe choice to at least be a midrange QB1 (with top-three upside), and I wanted someone thought to be an elite option at the position. There are plenty of running backs and wideouts still on the board with quarterback and tight end now set.

Round 6

6.01: Tyler Lockett, SEA WR
6.02: Odell Beckham Jr., CLE WR
6.03: Mark Andrews, BAL TE
6.04: Dallas Goedert, PHI TE
6.05: Tee Higgins, CIN WR
6.06: Robby Anderson, CAR WR
6.07: Russell Wilson, SEA QB
6.08: Courtland Sutton, DEN WR
6.09: Chase Edmonds, ARI RB
6.10: Chase Claypool, PIT WR
6.11: Curtis Samuel, WAS WR
6.12: Jalen Hurts, PHI QB

Thoughts: Maybe this is too much of a “name” pick, but Beckham Jr. is going to be determined to make a case as still being one of the NFL’s most exciting playmakers. I’ll take Julio and OBJ without spending a top-36 pick on wide receiver any day.

Round 7

7.01: Brandin Cooks, HOU WR
7.02: Travis Etienne, JAX RB
7.03: Will Fuller, MIA WR
7.04: Aaron Rodgers, GB QB
7.05: Raheem Mostert, SF RB
7.06: D.J. Chark, JAX WR
7.07: Tyler Boyd, CIN WR
7.08: JuJu Smith-Schuster, PIT WR
7.09: Justin Herbert, LAC QB
7.10: Tom Brady, TB QB
7.11: James Robinson, JAX RB
7.12: Joe Burrow, CIN QB

Thoughts: The selection of Travis Etienne hurts Robinson’s stock, but he will still be a significant part of what projects to be a somewhat run-heavy offense. The former undrafted free agent is the perfect FLEX for this roster.

Round 8

8.01: David Johnson, HOU RB
8.02: Javonte Williams, DEN RB
8.03: Jerry Jeudy, DEN WR
8.04: Ronald Jones II, TB RB
8.05: Deebo Samuel, SF WR
8.06: Marquise Brown, BAL WR
8.07: DeVonta Smith, PHI WR
8.08: Damien Harris, NE RB
8.09: Zack Moss, BUF RB
8.10: Michael Carter, NYJ RB
8.11: Jarvis Landry, CLE WR
8.12: Trey Sermon, SF RB

Thoughts: Three rookie runners went off the board in the eighth round, and I opted for Williams with the hopes that he can carve out close to an even timeshare with Melvin Gordon. Denver should want to run the ball and play defense in 2021.

Round 9

9.01: Antonio Brown, TB WR
9.02: Leonard Fournette, TB RB
9.03: Marvin Jones, JAX WR
9.04: Kenyan Drake, LV RB
9.05: DeVante Parker, MIA WR
9.06: Corey Davis, NYJ WR
9.07: James Conner, ARI RB
9.08: Laviska Shenault Jr., JAX WR
9.09: A.J. Dillon, GB RB
9.10: Michael Gallup, DAL WR
9.11: Gus Edwards, BAL RB
9.12: Nyheim Hines, IND RB

Thoughts: I was going to take Gallup here to pair with Dak Prescott, but I’ll add another running back in Edwards—who carries standalone FLEX value in addition to being a great handcuff to J.K. Dobbins.

Round 10

10.01: Mike Williams, LAC WR
10.02: Cole Beasley, BUF WR
10.03: Devin Singletary, BUF RB
10.04: Tony Pollard, DAL RB
10.05: Michael Pittman Jr., IND WR
10.06: Noah Fant, DEN TE
10.07: Jaylen Waddle, MIA WR
10.08: Tevin Coleman, NYJ RB
10.09: Jamaal Williams, DET RB
10.10: Latavius Murray, NO RB
10.11: Elijah Moore, NYJ WR
10.12: Mecole Hardman, KC WR

Thoughts: Not the most exciting pick, but I like Beasley’s floor behind Julio and Odell for a roster that is very strong at the other three primary positions. The fit probably would have been even better if I could have grabbed Gallup last round.

Round 11

11.01: Darnell Mooney, CHI WR
11.02: James White, NE RB
11.03: Jamison Crowder, NYJ WR
11.04: T.Y. Hilton, IND WR
11.05: Nelson Agholor, NE WR
11.06: Rashod Bateman, BAL WR
11.07: Jalen Reagor, PHI WR
11.08: Logan Thomas, WAS TE
11.09: Rams D/ST
11.10: Tarik Cohen, CHI RB
11.11: Henry Ruggs III, LV WR
11.12: La’Mical Perine, NYJ RB

Thoughts: I was torn between Ruggs and John Brown here, but I went with the young speedster—who Las Vegas will likely want to emerge as their No. 1 receiver.

Round 12

12.01: Russell Gage, ATL WR
12.02: John Brown, LV WR
12.03: Matthew Stafford, LAR QB
12.04: Sterling Shepard, NYG WR
12.05: Darrell Henderson, LAR RB
12.06: Robert Tonyan, GB TE
12.07: Mike Gesicki, MIA TE
12.08: J.D. McKissic, WAS RB
12.09: Matt Ryan, ATL QB
12.10: Phillip Lindsay, HOU RB
12.11: Jakobi Meyers, NE WR
12.12: Alexander Mattison, MIN RB

Thoughts: As hoped, the aforementioned Brown was still on the board a few picks later, and now I have a decent chunk of an underrated passing attack to fill out the depth at receiver. Best player available is the way to go, and I’ll be doing that with the next two picks before D/ST and K come into play.

Round 13

13.01: Tyler Higbee, LAR TE
13.02: Trevor Lawrence, JAX QB
13.03: Deshaun Watson, HOU QB
13.04: Jeff Wilson, SF RB
13.05: Irv Smith Jr., MIN TE
13.06: Rashaad Penny, SEA RB
13.07: Mark Ingram, HOU RB
13.08: Steelers D/ST
13.09: Ryan Tannehill, TEN QB
13.10: Ravens, D/ST
13.11: Zach Ertz, PHI TE
13.12: Carson Wentz, IND QB

Thoughts: I obviously don’t have a need at tight end after taking Travis Kelce in Round 1, but at this point in the offseason, Ertz is an excellent lottery ticket that I might be able to flip when he gets a new team. Just something for early drafters to consider.

Round 14

14.01: Malcolm Brown, MIA RB
14.02: Sony Michel, NE RB
14.03: Christian Kirk, ARI WR
14.04: Marlon Mack, IND RB
14.05: Giovani Bernard, TB RB
14.06: 49ers D/ST
14.07: Salvon Ahmed, MIA RB
14.08: Hunter Henry, NE TE
14.09: Jonnu Smith, NE TE
14.10: Washington D/ST
14.11 Ryan Fitzpatrick, WAS QB
14.12: Darrel Williams, KC RB

Thoughts: Michel might be the backup to Damien Harris entering the final year of his rookie deal, but he averaged 5.7 yards per carry in nine games last season. Round 14 is strong value for a talented runner in an offense that will keep the ball on the ground.

Round 15

15.01: Buccaneers D/ST
15.02: Saints D/ST
15.03: Breshad Perriman, DET WR
15.04: Dolphins D/ST
15.05: Colts D/ST
15.06: Justin Tucker, BAL K
15.07: Kirk Cousins, MIN QB
15.08: Kenneth Gainwell, PHI RB
15.09: Evan Engram, NYG TE
15.10: Rob Gronkowski, TB TE
15.11: Patriots D/ST
15.12: Harrison Butker, KC K

Round 16

16.01: Chargers D/ST
16.02: Greg Zuerlein, DAL K
16.03: Younghoe Koo, ATL K
16.04: Jason Sanders, MIA K
16.05: Wil Lutz, NO K
16.06: Rodrigo Blankenship, IND K
16.07: Chiefs D/ST
16.08: Tyler Bass, BUF K
16.09: Matt Gay, LAR K
16.10: Robbie Gould, SF K
16.11: Zane Gonzalez, FA K
16.12: Ryan Succop, TB K

Final Roster

QB: Dak Prescott, DAL
RB: Joe Mixon, CIN
RB: Josh Jacobs, LV

FLEX: James Robinson, JAX

This might be the worst team ever drafted… ever. How are you getting paid to write this?

Drafting Mixon inevitably leads to criticism lol I’d stay away from him in mock articles

Would be better with Ekeler RB1, Mixon RB2, Waller TE, different WR then OBJ
