Week 10 Fantasy Football Awards 2020

Team of the Week

QB: Tom Brady

You knew Brady and the Bucs were going to bounce back following last Sunday night’s forgettable showing, and they exploded against the Panthers with a 46-23 victory. The team even had to settle for some field goals, but TB12 threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns with an additional score on the ground to finish with a week-high 31.8 fantasy points.

RB: Alvin Kamara

49ers-Saints felt like a forgotten game in the late slate, so Kamara had an under-the-radar three-touchdown day—with his 7/83/1 receiving line and two short rushing scores boosting an outing in which he rushed for just 15 yards on eight attempts. Kamara now has 11 touchdowns in nine games this year.

RB: Josh Jacobs

The Las Vegas running game powered the Raiders to a 37-12 win yesterday, and Jacobs led the way with 112 yards and two scores on 21 attempts. Plus, the second-year back picked his receiving production back up (four receptions for 24 yards on four targets) after a couple of quiet weeks.

WR: DeAndre Hopkins

He’s currently the overall WR3 heading into tonight’s action, but the impact of Hopkins’ play makes him an obvious choice for one of the receiver spots with a game-winning grab to beat the Bills. The 43-yard touchdown gave Hopkins a 7/127/1 line on 12 targets in the 32-30 victory.

WR: Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Valdes-Scantling followed up a two-touchdown showing in Week 9 with four receptions, 149 yards, and one touchdown yesterday—so he’s really caught fire for Green Bay as the No. 2 option behind Davante Adams. The highlight was a 78-yard bomb, and MVS could have also been the Surprise of the Week considering how the wind and cold didn’t affect his big-play ability.

TE: Rob Gronkowski

Another shallow week at tight end allowed Gronkowski to finish as the top play heading into Monday night, and fantasy owners were surely thrilled by the seven-yard touchdown in the final five minutes of a convincing win. Gronk now has four touchdowns over his past five games.

FLEX: Ronald Jones II

Jones II became the fourth player in NFL history to have a rushing touchdown of 98+ yards, and it was a wise move for the Bucs to feature him after they had just set the record for fewest rush attempts in a game (five). Overall, Jones II rushed 23 times for 192 yards and the highlight touchdown.

D/ST: Saints

New Orleans didn’t start great yesterday by allowing Nick Mullens and the 49ers to get a 10-0 lead, but they ended up limiting them to 13 points and 281 yards in a 14-point win—also compiling two interception and two fumble recoveries.

K: Tyler Bass

Bass was only 16-of-22 on field goals to begin his career, but the rookie nailed three kicks of 50+ yards yesterday, and his 18.0 fantasy points were a season-high to lead the position.

Surprise of the Week: Ronald Jones II

It’s rare to have the Surprise of the Week be given for an in-game surprise, but most surely thought Jones II would be benched for an early fumble, so it was very encouraging to see Tampa Bay lean on him afterwards for a career day. Prior to this week, Jones II had rushed just 23 times for 66 yards over the previous three games.

Disappointment of the Week: Jonathan Taylor

Basically this entire month has been loaded with fantasy disappointments, and Week 10 was arguably the low point as every position had several duds. The frustrating part about Taylor is that the talent is there, but Indy continues to use him as a shotgun runner rather than letting him be more comfortable with heavier personnel formations.

Rookie of the Week: D’Andre Swift

Swift drew his first career start on Sunday, and it resulted in 16 carries for 81 yards to pair with a 5/68/1 receiving line. The rookie gets a couple of great matchups to close out the month (@ CAR, v HOU), so you can make a definite case for him as an RB1 play.

Week 10 MVP: Tom Brady

Again, a big game was fairly predictable for Brady because of how last week went, and the core skill-position group all got involved with Chris Godwin (6/92), Mike Evans (6/77/1), Antonio Brown (7/69), Rob Gronkowski (2/51/1), and Cameron Brate (3/31/1) having productive days. TB12 is on pace for 42 total touchdowns in his age-43 campaign.
