2020 Heisman Watch (Week 13)

There are considerable shake-ups and a new No. 1 in a Heisman race that continues to remain tight as December approaches.

1. Kyle Trask | Florida QB | Senior | Last week: 2 (+1)

The 2020 Heisman Trophy race is very, very close, but Florida quarterback Kyle Trask has seemingly asserted himself as the consensus frontrunner with one week remaining in November. Trask is putting up video-game passing numbers for one of the best teams in the nation, but keep in mind that there is still a decent amount of football to be played, and things can change quickly this year in particular.

Season stats:

70.7% | 2,554 PASS YDS | 31 PASS TD | 3 INT

33 CAR | 85 RUSH YDS | 2.6 AVG

2. Mac Jones | Alabama QB | Senior | Last week: 1 (-1)

Alabama had little trouble blowing out Kentucky over the weekend, so Mac Jones wasn’t tasked with putting up huge numbers for the Crimson Tide, which helps knock him down to No. 2 in the Heisman race. The SEC title game could be the key for Trask and Jones if they remain in the top two heading into a potential matchup in December.

Season stats:

77.1% | 2,426 PASS YDS | 18 PASS TD | 3 INT

18 CAR | -9 RUSH YDS | 1 RUSH TD | -0.5 AVG

3. Najee Harris | Alabama RB | Senior | Last week: 4 (+1)

Najee Harris totaled over 100 yards and found the end zone twice on the ground in Bama’s victory, including a highlight-reel touchdown run:

Harris continues to finish drives with touchdowns in the all-SEC schedule.

Season stats:

137 CAR | 797 RUSH YDS | 16 RUSH TD | 5.8 AVG

22 REC | 210 REC YDS | 9.5 AVG

4. Zach Wilson | BYU QB | Junior | Last week: NR

These final two spots could go to a handful of players, but Zach Wilson is back into the top five after another strong showing. The BYU quarterback only needed ten completions to throw for four touchdowns against North Alabama, and he probably could’ve put up really massive numbers if the Cougars wanted. He’d benefit from BYU getting another game on the schedule.

Season stats:

74.3% | 2,724 PASS YDS | 26 PASS TD | 2 INT

51 CAR | 191 RUSH YDS | 8 RUSH TD | 3.7 AVG

5. Trevor Lawrence | Clemson QB | Junior | Last week: 5

Trevor Lawrence hasn’t played in a few weeks, and the cancellation of the Florida State game might eliminate another opportunity for him to record Heisman statistics. Ohio State got the win, but Justin Fields drops all the way out of the top five after three interceptions versus Indiana.

Season stats:

70.7% | 1,833 PASS YDS | 17 PASS TD | 2 INT

29 CAR | 71 RUSH YDS | 4 RUSH TD | 2.4 AVG

Just missed:

Ohio State QB Justin Fields

Alabama WR DeVonta Smith

Clemson RB Travis Etienne
