The early-season Heisman Trophy race has a new No. 1.
1. Travis Etienne | Clemson RB | Senior | Last week: 2 (+1)
Take your pick between Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne for No. 1 in the Heisman race, but Etienne is coming off an extremely explosive performance in which he showed off his all-around skill set—including when he turned on the jets for a 72-yard touchdown run.
TOUCHDOWN TIGERS!

Season stats:
56 CAR | 392 RUSH YDS | 4 RUSH TD | 7.0 AVG
17 REC | 245 REC YDS | 1 REC TD | 14.4 AVG
2. Trevor Lawrence | Clemson QB | Junior | Last week: 1 (-1)
While his teammate takes the top spot this week, Trevor Lawrence had another phenomenal outing, and he also showed a bit more visible, outward fire than usual in the top-ten ACC matchup against Miami. Lawrence and the Tigers racked up 35 first downs in their victory on Saturday night.
Season stats:
72.4% | 1,140 PASS YDS | 10 PASS TD
22 CAR | 48 RUSH YDS | 4 RUSH TD | 2.2 AVG
3. Mac Jones | Alabama QB | Junior | Last week: 4 (+1)
Mac Jones had just four incompletions versus Ole Miss, going 28/32 for 417 yards and two touchdowns. Aside from potential conference title game and CFB Playoff showdowns, this Saturday against Georgia will likely be the toughest test of the season for Jones—and a big one for his Heisman candidacy.
Season stats:
79.5% | 1,101 PASS YDS | 8 PASS TD | 1 INT
6 CAR | 3 RUSH YDS | 0.5 AVG
4. Najee Harris | Alabama RB | Senior | Last week: NR
Travis Etienne isn’t the only big-time running back that returned for his college season contending for the Heisman when he could easily be playing in the NFL right now. Najee Harris scored a career-high five touchdowns on 23 carries (206 yards) for the Crimson Tide against Ole Miss. His ability as both a runner and a receiver will be critical this weekend.
Season stats:
52 CAR | 347 RUSH YDS | 10 RUSH TD | 6.7 AVG
7 REC | 76 REC YDS | 10.9 AVG
5. Kyle Trask | Florida QB | Senior | Last week: 3 (-2)
An early-season loss hurts Kyle Trask’s Heisman standing in a season with so many strong candidates, but the senior quarterback did his part by tossing four touchdowns at Kyle Field. Trask will have plenty more opportunities to make his case over the next several weeks.
Season stats:
71.8% | 996 PASS YDS | 14 PASS TD | 1 INT
14 CAR | 28 RUSH YDS | 2.0 AVG
Just missed:
Florida TE Kyle Pitts
SMU QB Shane Buechele
Ohio State QB Justin Fields
Don’t count out Isaiah Spiller! He is doing really well among SEC RBs.
He should be listed soon!
No love For Matt Corral even after he has played against 2 top 5 teams in 3 weeks and has only 1 turnover and it wasnt even his fault it was a batted down pass go look at his stats they are mind blowing!!
