Strengths
All-around skillset. Solid size/build with above-average speed and overall athleticism. Good vision. Elite contact balance. Great jump cut. Very agile with excellent feet. Makes defenders miss in the backfield. Can cut on a dime and reaccelerate. Possesses an effective spin move. Burst allows him to get skinny and split defenders. Has shake in the open field. Runs with some power. Will lower his shoulder to pickup extra yards. Three-down back that can contribute as a receiver and scan the field in pass protection. Productive with or without top-level talent around him.
Weaknesses
Can try to make too much happen instead of getting upfield. Ball security is an issue. Five fumbles in lone season as the starter for Penn State.
NFL comparison
Cadillac Williams – Injuries derailed Williams’ career as a former top-five pick and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, but similar to Miles Sanders, he was a well-rounded runner that had excellent feet to pair with some size/power.
Conclusion
Overall, Miles Sanders is a balanced offensive weapon that has some flashes of LeSean McCoy and Saquon Barkley in his game to go along with the Cadillac comp. I think the Penn State standout deserves consideration as a top-50 pick.
I like this kid.
Strong player!
