Strengths

Thick and powerful. Very strong lower body. Natural base and bend for his size. Gets excellent drive in the running game. Has strong hands to stay engaged. Seals defenders to create running lanes. Plus movement skills and athleticism. Easily gets to the second level as a run blocker. Accelerates around the corner as a lead blocker in space. Tough demeanor. Tries to drive guys into the ground when he can. Effective on cut blocks. Good overall field awareness. Great technique and patience in pass sets. Hands stay ready to strike. Smoothly mirrors speed rushers. Not at all out of place when used at left tackle. Has the skillset to play guard if needed. Star in the weight room.

Weaknesses

Beat too easily on inside moves in pass protection. Reaction time is a bit slow. Possible lack of length allows power to get inside and push him back. Will sometimes overrun his assignment in space.

Conclusion

Overall, Wirfs is a powerful offensive lineman that moves people in the running game and shows great technique in pass protection at both tackle spots. I think he can stay on the outside, but Wirfs has the ability to kick inside and be a really good guard if that’s where he would provide best value for a team.
