Strengths

Strong and well-built frame. No-nonsense runner that puts hit foot down and goes. Great contact balance. Will bounce defenders off and keep moving. Very powerful. Rarely goes down on first contact. Innate feel for making guys miss in the backfield. Excellent feet in traffic. Exceptional vision to follow second-level blocks. Makes decisive cuts. Uses stiff arm to push would-be tacklers off. Good ability to throttle down and keep balance along the sideline. Can get skinny through a crease. Very good hands. Reliable target underneath. Has some shake as a route runner and can run complex routes. Knows how to find holes in coverage. Physical as a lead blocker (highlight play versus Wake Forest). Willing to stand in as a pass protector. Made multiple fumble recoveries due to pure hustle. High character.

Weaknesses

Lacks top-end speed. Average acceleration trying to capture the edge on outside runs. Could clean some things up as a pass blocker (hand placement and keeping eyes up).

NFL comparison

Conclusion

Overall, Williams is a violent, powerful runner that will bring physicality and a well-rounded skillset to an NFL backfield. He should be a prime target early on Day 2 for teams seeking a young three-down option.
