Strengths

Prototype overall size for a perimeter wideout. Plays with great all-around physicality/strength. Smooth overall player with natural receiving skills. Possesses build-up speed to win vertically. Tracks downfield passes at a very high level. Easily hauls in over-the-shoulder catches. Outstanding body control. Great pacing/understanding as a route runner. Good ability to throttle down on curls and comebacks. Has success on quick-strike throws when given space. Hands are strong and reliable. Works hard back to the quarterback. Consistently makes contested catches. Very good awareness on the boundary. Superb blocker on the outside. Did most of his damage on the right side of the formation but has experience on both sides and in the slot. Won some battles versus top cornerbacks in the SEC.

Weaknesses

Average twitchiness/explosiveness. Has some trouble getting off the press and stacking versus physical coverage. Average acceleration out of breaks. Doesn’t create a ton of separation overall.

Conclusion

Overall, Palmer is a prototype perimeter receiver with excellent body control and physicality to win outside the numbers. Improved quarterback play at the next level should help him reach new heights after limited production at Tennessee.
