Brandon Allen | Bengals QB

The Bengals signed Brandon Allen.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has familiarity with Allen from their time together in Los Angeles with the Rams, so this is an ideal fit in a COVID-impacted summer. Allen could help No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow get a hang of the Cincinnati offense, and he's a steady hand as a potential backup.

Brandon Allen | Bengals QB

The Broncos are not tendering Brandon Allen.

Allen started three games for Denver last season, and NFL Network's Tom Pelissero says the team wants to re-sign him—but he'll have a chance to test the market.

Brandon Allen | Bengals QB

The Broncos claimed Brandon Allen.

Allen, who was waived by the Rams, is expected to slide in as the backup quarterback behind Joe Flacco. He isn't likely to be a highly recommended fantasy option if he's forced into action.

Brandon Allen | Bengals QB

The Rams cut Brandon Allen.

Allen can sling the ball around, and teams might like that he spent some time with Sean McVay. It shouldn’t take long for him to find a new team.

Brandon Allen | Bengals QB

The Rams are waiving Brandon Allen, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

As Pelissero notes, the Rams are likely to try and get Allen on the practice squad if he clears waivers. The 2016 sixth-round pick of the Jaguars can throw the ball around, and he should draw interest from other teams, too.

Multiple reports: The Rams claimed QB Brandon Allen off waivers.

Allen was waived by the Jaguars yesterday after the team made some waiver claims from the initial cuts. Jacksonville likely wanted Allen on their practice squad, but the Rams decided to pick him up. The second-year quarterback can certainly throw the ball, and he showed flashes in the preseason. Had Allen remained in Jacksonville, he might've made starts this season; instead, he'll be behind Jared Goff and Sean Mannion in LA.

Brandon Allen | Bengals QB

Brandon Allen throws five passes in Jaguars' third preseason game.

It doesn't look like Allen is being considered for the starting job, as he didn't enter the game until late in the fourth quarter after Chad Henne and Blake Bortles. Allen was 1/5 for 22 yards in the exhibition versus the Panthers. Don't count out the second-year quarterback making some starts this season even though he won't be under center in Week 1.

Brandon Allen | Bengals QB

Brandon Allen plays great in second preseason game.

The second-year quarterback was 10/15 for 144 yards and a touchdown, and he was also Jacksonville's leading rusher with 27 yards on three carries against Tampa Bay. Allen nearly led a fourth-quarter comeback, coming up just short at the goal line, then nearly converting a Hail Mary on the final play of the game. The 24-year-old out of Arkansas can certainly throw the ball—something that was obvious during his time in college. With Blake Bortles struggling and the quarterback spot wide open according to Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone, don't be surprised if Allen comes out of nowhere to make some starts in 2017.

Brandon Allen | Bengals QB

Second-year QB Brandon Allen plays well in preseason opener.

Allen was 5/7 for 85 yards and a touchdown. Rookie Dede Westbrook got wide open for a 42-yard touchdown, which was an easy throw for Allen, but he still put it right on the money. Allen can certainly throw the ball, and he's locked in as Jacksonville's number three quarterback for 2017.
