D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

The Cardinals re-signed D.J. Foster.

Foster has spent the past few years in Arizona, and he's back in the mix with Kilff Kingsbury's offense. Foster will look to win a roster spot and carve out a role among Cardinals running backs this summer.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

D.J. Foster suffered a torn ACL in last night's preseason game, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

It appeared to be a serious knee injury suffered by Foster, and unfortunately it is indeed a season-ender. The 2016 undrafted free agent might have had a role contributing on special teams and mixing in as a receiver out of the backfield this season, but now he'll go through a long rehab process. We hope to see him back to 100% and on the field in 2019.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

D.J. Foster suffers apparent knee injury against the Cowboys.

Foster just suffered the injury on a kickoff, and he was unfortunately carted off to the locker room after the injury. The third-year back was competing for a roster spot as a reserve running back and a special teams contributor, but it appears this could be a serious injury.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

D.J. Foster gets two touches in Week 17.

Foster had a three-yard carry and 17-yard reception against the Seahawks. The roster could switch up a bit in 2018 for the Cardinals, but Foster has the ability to mix in behind David Johnson if the team wants to keep him around.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

D.J. Foster catches three passes in Week 16.

Foster gained 24 yards on his three receptions, mixing in as a receiving back for the Cardinals. He's not a recommended option, even in PPR leagues, next week against the Seahawks.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

D.J. Foster catches four passes in loss to Washington,

They went for 22 yards and were his only touches of the game. It looks like Kerwynn Williams and Elijhaa Penny will split the carries over the final two weeks of the season, so Foster can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

D.J. Foster gets four touches in Week 14.

Foster had two carries for seven yards and two receptions for six yards against the Titans. Even if Adrian Peterson (neck) remains out of the lineup, Foster is difficult to trust, including in PPR leagues.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

D.J. Foster handles four touches in Week 13 loss.

Foster rushed twice for five yards and caught two passes for 20 yards. The second-year back would only be a FLEX option in deeper PPR leagues for the fantasy playoffs, so he can stay on the waiver wire in most formats.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

D.J. Foster handles four touches in Week 12 win.

Foster caught three passes for 18 yards and rushed once for four yards. The 24-year-old will have a receiving role down the stretch with Andre Ellington now in Houston, but he's not a fantasy option.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

D.J. Foster catches both targets in Week 11.

Foster was active over Andre Ellington and took over as the primary passing-down back for the Cardinals. He gained 26 yards on his two receptions, and he's someone to keep an eye on for PPR leagues down the stretch.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

Andre Ellington is inactive for Week 11.

It appears Ellington is a healthy scratch against the Texans, as running back D.J. Foster is active for the game. Adrian Peterson will handle almost all the carries in Arizona's backfield, but Foster is someone to watch as a potential PPR option down the stretch. He's a good receiver out of the backfield, and the Cardinals must like what they're seeing in practice.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

The Cardinals are signing RB D.J. Foster.

Foster is being signed off New England's practice squad. Foster is a 2016 undrafted running back from Arizona State that's hung around on the Pats' practice squad for the last two seasons, which shows the Patriots like him. After the wrist injury to David Johnson, Arizona is bringing the former Sun Devil to the desert. Kerwynn Williams and Andre Ellington have the advantage of being with the team already, but don't rule out Foster getting a good amount of work in Johnson's absence. This probably rules out the Cardinals re-signing Chris Johnson.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

The Patriots cut RB D.J. Foster.

The second-year undrafted back fell victim to the numbers game in New England's backfield, but he is a definite candidate for the team's practice squad.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

D.J. Foster scores in exhibition against the Texans.

The second-year back had six carries for 23 yards and four receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown. Foster led the Patriots in receiving, and his touchdown came on a nice circle route from Jimmy Garoppolo (pretty much the same play Rex Burkhead scored on with the first-team offense). Foster being on the roster bubble shows how deep the Patriots are at many positions.

D.J. Foster | Cardinals RB

D.J. Foster scores in Patriots' opening preseason game.

Foster had four carries for seven yards and a touchdown, along with three receptions for 33 yards. Foster is a good player that New England likes, but it might be hard for him to make the 53-man roster in the crowded backfield.
