Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

The Seahawks have released Ed Dickson, according to Ian Rapoport.

Dickson didn't appear in a game last season due to a knee injury, and Seattle—who suddenly has a bolstered tight end room—will let the veteran land elsewhere. Turning 33 in the summer, Dickson likely won't be a recommended fantasy option, but there should be a landing spot for him (perhaps in Washington with his former head coach Ron Rivera).

The Seahawks placed Ed Dickson (knee) on injured reserve.

Just two days after being activated to the 53-man roster from injured reserve, Dickson's knee is still giving him issues. The veteran tight end's season is over before playing a snap. For the Seahawks, this is a tough blow to a position that's dealt with multiple injuries. Dickson turns 33 this offseason.

The Seahawks activated Ed Dickson off injured reserve.

Dickson had been on injured reserve all season after knee surgery during training camp, but he will officially play in 2019. This is the second consecutive year with Dickson coming off injured reserve for Seattle, and he'll give a boost to a position that's been hit hard by injuries. Jacob Hollister has been playing well and is probably the top fantasy option from the group at the moment, though.

The Seahawks placed Ed Dickson on injured reserve.

Dickson had knee surgery earlier in the summer, and Seattle is placing him on injured reserve, which clears a roster spot for the team to bring back wide receiver Jaron Brown. The veteran tight end can return after eight weeks if he's one of the two potential designated-to-return players for the Seahawks.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson undergoes knee surgery.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll says the hope is that Dickson is out four-to-five weeks. The team was apparently exploring whether Dickson would need knee surgery, and he's getting it. Consider the veteran tight end questionable for Week 1 against the Bengals, but Will Dissly is expected to start for Seattle regardless of Dickson's status.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson caught four passes for 42 yards in Saturday night's loss to the Cowboys.

Dickson was targeted five times, with the only incompletion coming on an overthrow in the red zone. The veteran is under contract for two more seasons with the Seahawks, but he won't be on the fantasy radar to begin 2019.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson gets one touch against the Cardinals.

Dickson carried one time for nine yards in Week 17, bringing his season total to 12 receptions for 143 yards and three touchdowns in ten games. The veteran tight end will look to come up big in the postseason starting this Saturday night against Dallas.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson scores in win over the Chiefs.

Dickson caught three passes for 19 yards, including a diving score from two yards away in the fourth quarter. The veteran is a touchdown-dependent option that doesn't have a high likelihood of scoring, so keep him on the waiver wire for the season finale.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson caught two passes for 14 yards in Sunday's loss to the Niners.

Dickson has just nine receptions this season, so he should stay on the waiver wire for the fantasy championship.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson catches four-yard pass in Week 14 win.

It was his only catch of the game. Dickson won't be a recommended fantasy option over the final three weeks of the regular season.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson catches two passes in Week 12.

Dickson gained 13 yards on his two receptions against his former Panthers team. The veteran tight end isn't a reliable fantasy option at the moment.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson scores game-winning touchdown in Thursday night win.

Dickson was targeted once in Seattle's win over Green Bay, but he made it count by catching a 15-yard touchdown on a quick seam route in the fourth quarter. It was the go-ahead and game-winning score in a big game for the Seahawks, who improved to 5-5 with the victory. Dickson has two touchdowns on four receptions with the Seahawks, but he's difficult to trust in fantasy lineups. He faces once of his former teams, the Panthers, next week though; and Carolina has struggled mightily against tight ends this season, so it might be a spot to stream him.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson catches one pass in Seahawks' loss.

Dickson caught a 24-yard pass down the field on his lone target against the Rams. The veteran tight end has a low floor in fantasy lineups right now.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson did not catch a pass versus the Chargers.

After a 2/54/1 line in his 2018 debut last week, Dickson was targeted just once in Seattle's Week 9 loss while Nick Vannett (six receptions, 52 yards, touchdown) was the top tight end for the team. Dickson could go on to have a solid second half, but he's difficult to trust in what looks like a volatile tight-end group right now.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson scores in 2018 debut.

After missing Seattle's first six games while on the non-football injury list with soft-tissue injuries, the former Ravens and Panthers tight end immediately made a big impact for Russell Wilson and the Seahawks. Dickson caught tow passes for 54 yards and a touchdown against the Lions. The score was a 12-yarder where he went up and got the ball over a defender on a corner route, and his other reception was a 42-yarder. This was just one game, but Dickson could be on his way to becoming at least a backend TE1 option in the second half of the season. He's worth a look as a waiver wire pickup if you're struggling at tight end.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

The Seahawks activated Ed Dickson to the active roster.

Dickson missed the first six games of the season and was on the non-football injury list while dealing with soft tissue injuries, but he's set to make his Seahawks debut tomorrow against the Lions. The former Ravens and Panthers tight end might eventually work his way into the clear top tight end for the Seahawks and a solid fantasy option, but he's not a recommended play in Week 8 as the team works him back into things.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson (groin) remains on the non-football injury list.

Dickson looks questionable at best for the season opener after missing the entire summer with his groin injury suffered while working out on his own ahead of training camp. He's not a recommended fantasy selection at the moment.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

The Seahawks are hoping that Ed Dickson (groin) is back for the regular season opener.

Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times said that head coach Pete Carroll hopes that the veteran is back in time for Week 1, but from a fantasy perspective, his chances of making an early-season impact seem slim after missing training camp. Dickson turned 31 last month and caught 30 passes for 437 yards and one touchdown last year in Carolina. Nick Vannett and rookie Will Dissly are the other options on the roster, but it's probably a group to avoid for fantasy owners.

Ed Dickson (groin) remains on the non-football injury list.

The former Panther was expected to compete for the starting tight end job in Seattle, but he has yet to hit the field this summer. Dickson is off the fantasy radar until he can at least get closer to returning to the field. Nick Vannett is currently the favorite to start at tight end for the Seahawks.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

The Seahawks are placing Ed Dickson (groin) on the non-football injury list.

Pete Carroll says Dickson has a "minor groin injury" that happened in the last couple of weeks, so they're taking it slow with him. The former Panthers tight end can return to the field at any time when he gets healthy. Dickson is competing for the starting tight end spot in Seattle.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

The Seahawks are signing tight end Ed Dickson, according to Mike Garafolo.

With Jimmy Graham off to Green Bay and Luke Willson visiting other teams, Dickson might slide right in as the starting tight end for Seattle this season. Dickson filled in very nicely for Greg Olsen with the Panthers last season, and the former Raven and Panther could have his biggest role yet as a pro with the Seahawks. Dickson is likely to compete with Nick Vannett, a 2016 third-round pick of the Seahawks, for the starting job.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson held to one reception in loss to the Saints.

It went for three yards. Dickson also committed a drop on a pass that was a little out of reach that he probably should have extended his route for. The veteran tight end enters free agency this offseason, but there's a good chance he's back in Carolina. If so, he won't be a fantasy option behind Greg Olsen.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson caught two passes for 22 yards in Sunday's loss to the Falcons.

Dickson actually out-gained Greg Olsen on not close to as many targets, and he finishes the regular season with a 30/437/1 line with Olsen out of the lineup for much of it. The 30-year-old will look to make some plays in the postseason, starting next Sunday in New Orleans.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson caught two passes for 18 yards in Sunday's loss to New Orleans.

Getting the start for Greg Olsen (foot), Dickson was quiet for most of the day. Whether or not Olsen plays in Week 14, there are better options than Dickson for the fantasy playoffs.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson catches one pass in Week 12.

Dickson gained 15 yards on his lone reception against the Jets. Greg Olsen left the game with a foot injury in his first game back, and it's certainly possible he misses more time after he missed eight weeks with a broken foot. Dickson would offer some upside in fantasy lineups if Olsen were to miss any more time.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson scores in Week 10.

Dickson made an excellent catch on a high pass in the end zone for a touchdown, and overall he had three receptions (on five targets) for 33 yards and the touchdown. Greg Olsen (foot) is fully expected to be back in Week 12 after the team's bye week, but Dickson did a good job of stepping up in Olsen's absence. Dickson will take a step back in terms of his pass-catching role, but he'll certainly remain a contributor to a team competing in the NFC.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson caught four passes for 24 yards in Sunday's win over the Bucs.

Outside of a 175-yard day against the Lions a few weeks ago, Dickson has been pretty quiet as Greg Olsen's replacement. The veteran will get at least a couple more games as the starter, but he's not a recommended fantasy option against Atlanta next Sunday.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson catches three passes against the Bears.

Dickson couldn't get much going against Chicago, as he gained only 18 yards on his three receptions (five targets). The Buccaneers have been OK against tight ends this season, but Dickson is still in the TE1 conversation for their Week 8 matchup.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson gets eight targets in Week 6.

Dickson caught four passes for 36 yards against the Eagles, and he might've scored on a play-action pass where he was wide open after the fake handoff to the other side of the field, but speedy Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks caught him before he could reach the end zone. Dickson will be in the TE1 conversation in his next game against the Bears.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson has the game of his career in Week 5 win.

Dickson caught five passes for a career-high 175 yards, as Cam Newton was able to find him across the middle for huge gains against the Lions. We wouldn't rush to pick up Dickson from the waiver wire if you need help at tight end, as this will almost certainly be the best game of the season for him, and he has a difficult matchup with Philly on Thursday night. Despite averaging an insane 24.6 yards per catch on the year, he's probably best left off your roster.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson produces in Week 5.

According to Troy Aikman on the FOX broadcast, the Panthers said they want to get their tight end more involved, and they did. Dickson caught three of four targets for 62 yards in the win over the Patriots. He's worth a look on the waiver wire in deeper leagues or if you just need tight end help.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson held to one catch in start.

It went for eight yards, as Christian McCaffrey dominated passing-game work for the Panthers in the first game without Greg Olsen. Despite being a starter without Olsen in the lineup, Dickson isn't a fantasy option.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

Ed Dickson caught two passes for 26 yards in Sunday's win over the Bills.

The biggest takeaway for Dickson was that Greg Olsen went down with a foot injury, and it turns out it's broken and he will miss 6-8 weeks. That sets up Dickson as the starting tight end for the next two months, and while the role will obviously be scaled back from Olsen's, he's worth an add in fantasy leagues, especially because he starts with a matchup against New Orleans next Sunday.
