Elijah Holyfield | Eagles RB

The Eagles promoted Elijah Holyfield to the active roster.

This is an interesting addition, but the Eagles had some roster space to work with due to COVID-19. Holyfield provides a bit of a power element for the Philadelphia backfield, but he’s not a recommended Week 11 fantasy option.

The Eagles waived Elijah Holyfield.

Holyfield was with Philadelphia last postseason, but they are going in another direction at running back for now. We'd think the Eagles will want to try to get Holyfield through waivers and onto the practice squad.

The Eagles signed Elijah Holyfield.

Holyfield signed with the Panthers after going undrafted this year, but now he lands with a playoff team as the Eagles' fourth running back. Miles Sanders is banged up, but this could also indicate Jordan Howard's shoulder isn't where the team feels comfortable giving him a heavy workload. Holyfield is the son of legendary boxer Evander Holyfield, so he'll probably be well liked in Philadelphia.

The Panthers are singing Georgia running back Elijah Holyfield, according to Ian Rapoport.

The son of legendary heavyweight boxing champion of the world Evander Holyfield, Elijah brings that same hit-you-in-the-mouth mindset to the football field. He bided his time for a couple of seasons behind Nick Chubb and Sony Michel at Georgia, but he became a key part of a split backfield with dynamic runner D’Andre Swift in 2018. Holyfield rushed for 1,018 yards and seven touchdowns on 159 attempts in his final college season, opting to forego his senior year and head to the NFL. The pre-draft process didn’t help Holyfield (particularly his 4.78 40 time), but his play on the field and his no-nonsense running style is the real deal. Holyfield at least has the potential to work his way into a change-of-pace runner that won’t be fun for defenders to bring down while complimenting Christian McCaffrey in Carolina. He’s just a dynasty-league option for now.
