Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks.

This is pretty good news all things considered, as it's at least not a season-ender for Fitzpatrick. Taylor Heinicke, who was very impressive in a playoff game against the eventual champion Bucs last January, will now take over and run the Washington offense during Fitzpatrick's absence—with the opportunity to take the job and run with it. From a fantasy perspective, Fitzpatrick should stay on the waiver wire outside of extremely deep leagues.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Washington is placing Ryan Fitzpatrick (hip) on injured reserve, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The MRI confirmed hip subluxation, which will knock the veteran out for at least the next three games—and possibly beyond. It's obviously a difficult break for Fitzpatrick, and there is a real chance Taylor Heinicke might not give up the starting job if he plays well in his place. This news limits the fantasy upside for Terry McLaurin and others for now, but it by no means should be a significant downgrade for Washington's offense in general.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick (hip) has been ruled out for the rest of today.

This isn't a big surprise after Fitzpatrick was helped off the field in the first half, and it'll be Taylor Heinicke finishing the rest of today's Week 1 contest against the Chargers. Now we just have to hope this isn't a long-term thing for Fitzpatrick. More information on his status should become available in the next day or so.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick leaves game.

Fitzpatrick took a bit hit and was down on the field, and now Taylor Heinicke is in the game for Washington. Hopefully Fitzpatrick is able to return soon, but we'll update you as more information becomes available.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Washington is signing Ryan Fitzpatrick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

It will be a one-year deal for $10 million (and could go up to $12 million), but the landing spot is obviously the key takeaway here, as the veteran passer will get to lead perhaps his best team to date if he can beat out Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen in camp. Washington is ready to win now because of their defense, and it will be fun to watch Fitzpatrick play for the defending NFC East champions. We’ll see what kind of domino effect this signing has on the quarterback landscape.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick tested positive for COVID-19 and is out for Week 17, according to NFL Network.

Tua Tagovailoa was going to be back under center as the starter for Miami, but not having Fitzpatrick off the bench as a possible spark plug for a win-and-in game is a significant loss—especially with snow in the forecast. Depending on if Buffalo plays Josh Allen and their stars, the Dolphins' best shot at making the playoffs could be winning a slugfest.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick will officially start for the Dolphins in Week 1.

This was obviously fully expected, but Dolphins head coach Brian Flores just made it official. Rookie Tua Tagovailoa, who is healthy, will begin the season as the backup while Fitzpatrick leads a Chan Gailey offense that he's familiar with. From a fantasy perspective, Fitzpatrick certainly won't hesitate to give his big weapons like DeVante Parker, Preston Williams, and Mike Gesicki opportunities to make plays on the outside.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick has been named the Dolphins starting quarterback.

The veteran replaced Josh Rosen in the second half of Sunday's loss to the Redskins and nearly engineered a comeback victory, so this is a sign that head coach Brian Flores is legitimately trying to win with arguably the worst roster in the league. Fitz will be in a difficult spot on the road against the Bills this week, but it's a definite upgrade to those in deeper leagues planning to roll with a skill-position player. For Rosen, the move is obviously not an encouraging look in terms of his future, as his grasp on the starting job didn't even last a full game.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

The Dolphins named Ryan Fitzpatrick their starting quarterback.

This was fully expected, but Fitzpatrick will officially be under center in Week 1 against the tough Ravens defense. From a fantasy perspective, this is probably good news for Miami's skill position players, particularly talented former first-round pick DeVante Parker. Fitzpatrick won't be shy giving Parker and the other Dolphins players opportunities to make plays, but Fitzpatrick himself will likely be difficult to trust in fantasy lineups with a potentially-short leash and Josh Rosen likely to see playing time in 2019.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Dolphins head coach Brian Flores says it's "pretty clear" that Ryan Fitzpatrick is leading the team's quarterback competition.

Flores doesn't seem like the type of coach that's going to just hand Josh Rosen the starting quarterback job because the team traded a second-round pick for him. However, it's worth noting that Flores recently admitted that he might have a player get reps behind others to humble them, and—fair or not—Rosen is seen by some as being arrogant. These comments could be a tactic to get the most out of Rosen or to see how he responds. From a fantasy perspective, it's probably better for the skill position players of the Dolphins if Fitzpatrick is the starter, as he has no issues taking chances and throwing the ball around the field to his weapons as he showed in Tampa Bay last season.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

The Dolphins signed Ryan Fitzpatrick, according to multiple reports.

After missing out on Tyrod Taylor and Teddy Bridgewater, Miami has its veteran starting quarterback (at least at the moment). This is the 36-year-old's eighth NFL team, and his third AFC East team (he's previously played for the Bills and Jets). Fitzpatrick had an excellent stretch for the Bucs last season, becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for 400 yards in three consecutive games, and he has plenty of experience with 141 career games and 126 starts. It's fitting that Fitzpatrick signed on St. Patrick's Day, and we'll see if he can work some magic with the Dolphins.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

The Buccaneers have benched Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick simply isn't playing well today, so he's been benched for Jameis Winston again. Before leaving, Fitzpatrick was 13/21 for 167 yards and two touchdowns along with four carries for 14 yards and a rushing touchdown. The Bucs are down just 17 points, so Winston will attempt to bring them back; he might regain the starting job moving forward regardless, though. Hopefully you weren't playing with fire by having Fitzpatrick in your Week 11 fantasy lineup.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick turns the ball over three times in Buccaneers' loss.

Fitzpatrick was 29/41 for 406 yards, two interceptions, and a fumble lost along with eighth carries for 35 yards. This was Fitzpatricks' fourth 400-yard performance of the season, as he continues to sling it around the yard to a bunch of talented weapons. Fitzpatrick offers obvious upside with obvious downside next week against the Giants.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick tosses four touchdowns, but can't complete comeback against the Panthers.

Fitzpatrick was 24/40 for 243 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions, also adding five carries for 23 yards in a 42-28 loss. Tampa Bay faced a 35-7 deficit in the second quarter, but they scored 21 unanswered points before Carolina answered with a touchdown drive to start the fourth quarter. Fitz was able to find O.J. Howard twice in the first half and Adam Humphries twice in the second half for scores, and despite just starting four-of-eight games this season, he's on pace for 3,586 yards and a 34:14 touchdown-interception ratio at the midway point. Consider the veteran a low-end QB1 option for Week 10 against the Redskins.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick is starting for the Buccaneers in Week 9.

Considering Jameis Winston has not played well at all dating back to last season and has multiple interceptions in each of his four games this season, this is not a surprise. Fitzpatrick has 13 passing touchdowns and five interceptions in five games this season, including starting the year with three straight games of over 400 yards passing. The veteran quarterback was keeping pace with Patrick Mahomes as the highest-scoring fantasy quarterback before he was benched for Winston during Week 4, and he has a legitimate chance to deliver top-ten value down the stretch. Tampa Bay has plenty of weapons on offense, and Fitzpatrick isn't afraid to let it fly to those weapons. There'll be downside each week because of potential turnovers and benching, but Fitzpatrick offers top-five weekly upside. This week against the Panthers will be a tough matchup, though. It's hard to blame Dirk Koetter for making the move from Winston to Fitzpatrick, as his job is on the line. We'll see what happens, but Winston's days as a franchise quarterback might be numbered.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick leads Tampa Bay to second-half comeback, but Bengals win 37-34 on last-second field goal.

Replacing an ineffective Jameis Winston after his fourth interception, Fitzpatrick completed 11/15 passes for 194 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions, also adding an 18-yard rush. The 35-year-old was simply on fire the moment he stepped on the field, getting the Bucs in field goal range on his first drive, and then connecting with Mike Evans for a 72-yard bomb before orchestrating a game-tying touchdown drive with just over three minutes to go. On that final offensive drive, Fitz took the team 88 yards in 12 plays, which was finished off with an 18-yard score to O.J. Howard and a clutch two-point conversion to Chris Godwin. Tampa Bay might not make their quarterback decision until later in the week, but it's difficult to see how Dirk Koetter can keep the locker room if he goes away from the veteran. Fitzpatrick would be back on the streaming radar for a potential shootout against Carolina next Sunday if given the start.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick has been benched for the Buccaneers.

Fitzpatrick and the Bucs couldn't get anything going offensively and are down 38-3 to start the second half, so the team decided to make a quarterback change. Fitzpatrick had an outstanding start to the season, but it might be Winston's job form here on out. Before leaving today's game, Fitzpatrick was 9/18 for 126 yards and an interception

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick goes over 400 yards in near comeback win against the Steelers.

Down 30-10 at halftime, Fitzpatrick and the Buccaneers went into comeback mode and nearly pulled it off in a narrow three-point loss. Fitzpatrick was 30/50 for 411 yards, three touchdowns, three interception, and added five carries for 27 yards. The three interceptions all came in the first half, with one coming on a tipped pass the line of scrimmage that deflected up into the air; another coming on a miscommunication with Mike Evans on a deep crossing route; and the third coming on a play where his arm appeared to be hit on a pass from the end zone, which was returned for a pick-six (the ESPN broadcast inexplicably didn't mention that his arm might have been hit as he threw). Fitzpatrick again had no issues chucking the ball around and down the field to his weapons, and he's become the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 400 yards in three straight games. Despite the turnovers tonight, it will be a major surprise if Fitzpatrick is benched for Jameis Winston (returning from suspension) after leading the team to a 2-1 record in his absence. Fitzpatrick offers obvious QB1 upside in Week 4 against the Bears.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick plays lights out in 27-21 win over the Eagles.

Fitzpatrick went 27/33 for 402 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception, making it two weeks in a row with 400+ yards and four scores. The veteran simply picked apart the Eagles defense all afternoon, connecting with DeSean Jackson for a 75-yard touchdown on the first pass of the game and then throwing another 75-yard touchdown to O.J. Howard in the second quarter. He finished things off with two red-zone scores to Chris Godwin and Mike Evans. Barring a complete collapse against the Steelers next Monday night, it appears that Jameis Winston won't be getting his starting job back when he returns from suspension in Week 4. Perhaps the zone defense of the Steelers will make things tough on the veteran in Week 3, but it's difficult to count out Fitzpatrick as a QB1 option after his scorching start.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick lights up the Saints in Week 1 win.

The veteran quarterback could not have had a much better start to open the season, as he threw the ball around the yard while leading the Bucs to 48 points in the Superdome. Fitzpatrick was 21/28 for 417 yards and four touchdowns while also adding 12 carries for 36 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown—along with a game-sealing run on a third down late in the fourth quarter. Not many people had Fitzpatrick in their fantasy lineup, but those that did ended up with 41 standard fantasy points from their quarterback spot to start the year. Next week against Philadelphia is a tougher matchup, so we don't recommend picking up Fitz and placing him in fantasy lineups. He does offer upside, though.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

The Buccaneers have re-signed Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick played very well in his first season in Tampa Bay last season when he filled in for an injured Jameis Winston, as he led the team to a 2-1 record in his starts and threw seven touchdowns and three interceptions in his six games played. The 35-year-old is one of the league's better backup quarterbacks, so the Bucs have that situation locked up as free agency approaches next week. Fitzpatrick isn't going to be fantasy relevant as long as Winston remains healthy and on the field, but his presence should be good for the quarterback room in Tampa Bay as a whole.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Bucs fall to 4-7 with 34-20 loss to the Falcons.

Fitzpatrick was 27/44 for 283 yards, zero touchdown, and zero interceptions. He also rushed twice for 20 yards. Tampa Bay was down 20-6 at the half, but they were able to cut the lead to 27-20 before a Tevin Coleman touchdown sealed it in the fourth quarter. Fitz played well again, and he should have thrown for a touchdown pass if not for Mike Evans letting it go right through his hands in the end zone. The 35-year-old won't be a recommended streaming option if he gets another start next week against the Packers.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick leads Tampa Bay to second-straight victory with 30-20 win over Miami.

Fitzpatrick was 22/37 for 275 yards, two touchdowns, and no turnovers. After a 2-6 start to the season, the Bucs have gone 2-0 with Fitzpatrick under center as Jameis Winston recovers from a shoulder injury. Winston's long-term health should be the priority for Tampa Bay, and winning without him should make it certain that he's 100% before a potential return. The streaky Fitzpatrick isn't a recommended streaming option next week against the Falcons.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick does enough to beat his former team in first start of the season.

Fitzpatrick was 17/34 for 187 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also rushed three times for nine yards. The journeyman quarterback isn't a fantasy option against the Dolphins next Sunday.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick takes over for injured Jameis Winston in loss to the Saints.

Fitzpatrick played the second half and was just 8/15 for 68 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed three times for 30 yards. The loss dropped the Bucs to 2-6, and it looks like Fitzpatrick might make some starts to allow Winston to get to 100% in what appears to be a lost season. If so, he would face his former team in the Jets next Sunday, but he wouldn't be a recommended streaming option.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick throws two interceptions, but almost brings Bucs back in relief of Jameis Winston (shoulder).

Fitzpatrick was 22/32 for 290 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also rushed three times for 10 yards. The veteran found Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson, and Cameron Brate for his scores, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 24-0 halftime deficit, as Tampa Bay lost 38-33 to the Cardinals. Fitzpatrick could get his first start of the season if Winston isn't good to go against the Bills next Sunday, but wouldn't be a recommended fantasy option.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick throws another interception in second preseason game.

Fitzpatrick was 6/9 for 47 yards and the turnover, playing the entire second half in relief of the starters. If Ryan Griffin (shoulder) was healthy, Fitzpatrick would have a legitimate chance of losing his backup job. With Griffin out a few weeks, Fitz looks safe heading into the regular season behind Jameis Winston.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick struggles in preseason opener.

Fitzpatrick was just 6/13 for 45 and an interception, but he did rush for a touchdown in the red zone. The 34-year-old needs to be better as a passer next week if he wants to hold of Ryan Griffin for the backup quarterback job in Tampa Bay. He'll get the Jaguars next.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

The Buccaneers are signing quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Mike Glennon is now with the Bears, so Fitzpatrick will fill the backup quarterback role behind Jameis Winston. As a very smart quarterback, Fitzpatrick will help the 23-year-old Winston progress. Fitzpatrick is also a more-than-capable backup that can fill in should anything happen to Winston.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick's contract with Jets voids.

Fitz's Jets career is over. He had a nice 2015 season, but 2016 was not good, which perhaps should have been expected with so much animosity between the two sides and the fact that Fitzpatrick missed a good amount of the offseason. Fitzpatrick should get a backup gig somewhere.

Ryan Fitzpatrick gets win in very likely final game with the Jets.

Fitz was 20/30 for 210 yards and two touchdowns to get the Jets to 5-11. This season didn't go close to how they anticipated when Fitzpatrick re-signed very late in the offseason. The situation really wasn't that hard to predict, as it seemed like a forced marriage. Fitz finished his year with 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions with 2,710 yards in 14 games (11 starts). It'd be a major surprise if he stayed with the Jets in 2017.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Fitzpatrick terrible in relief of Petty.

Somehow, Fitz always finds his way under center for the Jets. This time, Petty left the game with a shoulder injury. Ryan Patrick was 8/21 for 136 yards and two interceptions after taking over. New York eventually fell 41-3 to New England. Fitzpatrick won't be a starter next season.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Fitzpatrick struggles again; is benched again.

The Jets got blown out by the Colts, and Ryan Fitzpatrick didn't help the Jets' effort. He was 5/12 for 81 yards and one interception. The interception was a very bad decision, as he tried to force the ball to Brandon Marshall into double coverage, and it was picked off easily. ESPN analyst Jon Gruden immediately said he would get Bryce Petty in the game. Petty was inserted and didn't do too great either. Fitzpatrick probably won't be starting any more games for the Jets.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Washington QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns on 22-32 passing, and fumbled late in the game.

Fitzpatrick had a pretty decent day, but a potential game-winning drive was cut short when his arm got hit before it started forward and it was a fumble recovered by the Pats. He just missed quite a few other connections, especially with Brandon Marshall, but did nothing to make us expect to see Bryce Petty next week.
