Microsoft Officially Unveils Prices And Release Date For Xbox Series X And S

After weeks of anticipation, Microsoft finally revealed the first prices of the next generation video game consoles. The Xbox Series X will be $499.99 while the Xbox Series S will be $299.99. Both consoles will release November 10 in time for the holiday season, and pre-orders are open on September 22.

The Series S has been the most under wraps, and it essentially gives you all the perks of the Series X aside from true 4K gaming and a physical disc tray (i.e. it’s an all-digital console), so it’ll be quite the value for many people this fall and winter.

Among the highlights, both the Series X and Series S feature:

Xbox Velocity Architecture

Experience next-gen speed and performance with the Xbox Velocity Architecture, powered by a custom SSD and integrated software.

Expanding game library

Play thousands of games from four generations of Xbox with Backward Compatibility, including optimized titles at launch.

Xbox Game Pass

Get unlimited access to over 100 high-quality games with Xbox Game Pass, including all-new Xbox Game Studios titles like Halo Infinite the day they release.

Smart Delivery

Play the best available version of your game no matter which device you’re playing on with Smart Delivery.

Also, in addition to being optimized for just Xbox Series X, games can be optimized for both consoles. According to Microsoft: “Games built using the Xbox Series X|S development kit showcase unparalleled load times, visuals, responsiveness, and frame rates up to 120 FPS.”

You can also buy one of the new consoles with installments. The Series S goes for $24.99/month for 24 months, and the Series X goes for $34.99/month for 24 months.

The Xbox Series X and Series S launch on November 10.
