Strengths

Very accurate distributor all over the field. Exceptional combination of touch and anticipation. Extremely smooth delivery and throws a catchable ball. Masterful pocket movement for a prospect. Tremendous poise. Climbs the pocket and keeps his eyes downfield. Natural feel for the game. Knows where holes will be in coverage. Excellent overall field vision. Decisive and quick to read defenders. Usually hits targets in stride at all levels. Lays out the deep ball. Great anticipatory thrower into coverage. Developed outstanding chemistry with his receivers for having one full season as the starter. Comfortable throwing into coverage between the numbers. Willing to give his guys a chance to make plays on the ball. Will absorb a hit to make a throw. Possesses a very deceptive shimmy pump fake. Takes the check downs. Impressive on-the-move accuracy for a pocket passer. Functional athleticism. Shows some creativity as a playmaker and ball-handler. Not fast but will run if given an opening. Played great in big games.

Weaknesses

Lacks elite arm strength and velocity. Ball doesn’t really explode out of his hand on drive throws into coverage and outside the numbers. Will miss short on a throw from time to time.

Conclusion

Overall, Jones is a pro-ready quarterback with the touch, anticipation, and pocket movement to be a long-time franchise signal-caller in the right situation. He doesn’t have the flash of others at the position, but Jones is worth selecting as a top-ten pick.
